Write the intended use before choosing hardware
Stable handling, grooming, transport, turnout and display use can require different products. Define whether the programme needs adjustable webbing halters, padded styles, breakaway components, rope halters or coordinated lead ropes.
No single construction is automatically appropriate for every context. Safety instructions and market requirements should be considered alongside physical product development.
Control webbing, padding and edge contact
Specify webbing width, thickness, weave, hand feel, colour reference and any lining or padding. Approve padding coverage, seam direction and edge finish at the nose, crown and cheek areas. Check how bulk, adjustment and hardware affect fit across the intended size range.
Map hardware and stitched load points
Record buckle, ring, snap and adjuster material, finish, dimensions and orientation. Reinforcement patterns and stitch placement should be consistent at connection points. For lead ropes, define rope diameter, construction, length, end finish and snap or chain option.
Sample as a matched system
Review colour and finish together, but inspect halter fit and lead-rope handling separately. Confirm adjustment range, hardware operation, stitch security, surface finish, labels and packing. Any strength or safety claim requires a defined basis and should not be inferred from appearance.
